Medical imaging plays an essential role in detecting and diagnosing disease, evaluating injuries, planning treatment and monitoring a patient’s progress.

3D Digital Mammography
ACR Accreditation and FDA Certified
Early detection is one of the most important tools in the fight against breast cancer. CRMC provides 3D digital mammography for breast cancer screening and diagnostic evaluation.
3D mammography creates multiple detailed images of the breast, allowing breast tissue to be viewed in thin layers rather than as a single flat image. This provides greater image detail and can help radiologists identify abnormalities that may be more difficult to see with traditional mammography.
Mammography services include:
- Routine screening mammography
- Diagnostic mammography
- 3D breast imaging
- Imaging to assist with biopsy localization and other breast procedures

Ultrasound
Ultrasound, also known as sonography, uses sound waves to create real-time images of organs, tissues and blood vessels. Because ultrasound uses sound waves rather than X-rays, there is no ionizing radiation exposure during the examination.
Ultrasound is commonly associated with pregnancy, but it is also an important diagnostic tool for evaluating many areas of the body. Doppler ultrasound can help physicians evaluate blood flow, while other ultrasound examinations can assist in identifying abnormalities involving organs, blood vessels and soft tissues.

- Obstetric ultrasound

- General diagnostic ultrasound
- Ultrasound-guided biopsies of the breast, kidney, liver and thyroid

Digital Radiography and Fluoroscopy
X-ray remains one of the most frequently used forms of diagnostic imaging. CRMC uses digital radiography to quickly produce detailed images that can help physicians diagnose fractures, injuries, infections and a variety of medical conditions.
Fluoroscopy provides real-time moving X-ray images and may be used to evaluate different body systems or guide certain diagnostic procedures.

- Barium studies
- Myelograms
- Arthrograms
CT Imaging
Computed Tomography (CT) uses X-rays and advanced computer technology to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the body.
CT imaging can provide physicians with information about internal organs, blood vessels, bones and soft tissues and is an important diagnostic resource for patients throughout CRMC, including those receiving emergency care.
CRMC’s CT capabilities include:
- General CT imaging
- CT angiography
- 3D reconstruction
MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to create highly detailed images without the use of ionizing radiation.
CRMC’s in-house MRI provides advanced imaging capabilities while offering a more spacious opening designed to improve patient comfort. The larger design can be especially helpful for patients who experience claustrophobia or who may have difficulty being comfortably accommodated in a traditional MRI scanner.
MRI can be used to evaluate many areas of the body, including:
- Brain and head
- Spine
- Joints and extremities
- Blood vessels and MR angiography
- Soft tissues and other areas as medically indicated
Our technologists understand that MRI can cause anxiety for some patients and work to make the experience as comfortable and reassuring as possible.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine uses small amounts of radioactive material, known as radiotracers, to help physicians evaluate how organs and tissues are functioning.
Unlike many imaging studies that primarily show anatomy, nuclear medicine can provide information about function and activity within the body.
CRMC nuclear medicine studies include:
- Cardiac studies
- Bone scans
- Gallbladder function studies
- Thyroid examinations
- Other physician-ordered nuclear medicine studies
PET/CT
Positron Emission Tomography combined with Computed Tomography (PET/CT) brings together two types of imaging to provide information about both the structure and metabolic activity of tissues within the body.
PET/CT is frequently used in cancer care to help physicians detect disease, determine its extent, evaluate response to treatment and monitor for recurrence.
CRMC provides access to mobile PET/CT services once each week, allowing patients to receive this advanced imaging service locally rather than routinely traveling outside the community.
DEXA Bone Density Testing
A DEXA scan is a quick, noninvasive examination used to measure bone mineral density.
The test can help identify osteopenia and osteoporosis, conditions associated with decreased bone density and an increased risk of fracture. DEXA may also be used to monitor changes in bone density over time and evaluate how well osteoporosis treatment is working.
